Very true. And in … Very true. And in fact, when recruiters visit VFS, they often steer students away from the idea of trying to be a “hot-shot generalist” – studios want someone who’s incredibly good at their part of the pipeline. (Understanding the other aspects is important, of course.) Jelmer plainly doesn’t need help finding a job – he’s already building a reputation as a young modeler to watch and has the credits to show for it.
To thepryest: funny … To thepryest: funny because while perusing your page I didn’t come across anything that remotely resembles work as good as this, and in fact, I found nothing at all on your page. I’ll tell you what I tell all the haters of the 3D Art medium: “Let’s see you do better.” and leave it at that
Dude he’s not an … Dude he’s not an animator. He’s clearly showing off his modeling and character design skills, which is a job on its own. Animators VERY rarely ever make their own models in production, so its not much harder for a good modeler such as this to find work. These “simple 3d poses” are all his employers would ever want to see from him.
ok now rig and … ok now rig and animate the model, simple 3d poses mean nothing, although nice for single shots like in ads or movie covers, learn to animate them tho and you will easily find a job.
One of the best … One of the best digital sculptures out there. Jelmer made a video tutorial over the summer of one of my pieces, the feedback was top rate

Lose the monkey …
Lose the monkey design(2d drawing) at the very end.
It doesn’t help your reel.
Everything else is very professional, and unique.
