Each time I use Yahoo search, I get redirected to advertisers. I have Norton spyware/adware protection but that does not seem to catch everything.

You have the "Search Redirect Virus". This virus will change genuine links that appear in Yahoo, or other major search engines, to links to websites about advertisements. You may also experience random pop ups.

Using Norton, or any other major anti virus software, will not remove or catch this virus. This is because the virus only infects a select few system files. It does not run a background process either.

You will need to use ComboFix. This program is specially designed to deal with this problem. It restores the broken system files back to their original state, thereby removing the virus. You can find a comprehensive tutorial on how to use ComboFix to remove this virus here:

Excellent software!!! Using a very layered Security I still somtimes get junkware? Programs like Spybot can Detect, but not completly remove, but is a very good program to have. Malwarebytes comes to the rescue…tyvm Malwarebytes! Dave
