What are the adware tracking cookies? are they harmful to my computer? what should I do?
I downloaded and installed the avast, the superantispyware free edition and the spyboot search and destroy, but only the antispyware is detecting the adware tracking cookies, what are they? are my files in danger? is it bad to have so many antisoyware installed in my computer? wich one should I keep?
cookies are simply little text files that are created on your computer by advertising companies as well as normal websites. Some of them are indeed harmful as they can tell the companies exactly which websites you’re going to, and thereby let them know your surfing patterns…etc, which they use to deliver targeted advertising to you.
While they will not harm your computer or your files, they are invasive in a privacy related manner.
Unfortunately, without allowing cookies, there are many websites you can’t use, so you almost have to allow them at all times.
Just let your scanner delete them for you.
Get lavasoft.com’s adaware, it’s great for getting rid of these. You can also delete cookies in firefox by going to tools, clear private data, or in internet explorer by click on tools, internet options and then delete cookies.
